Smart Board 800 Series for Education to Feature Four-Touch Interactivity
SMART’s award-winning products help teachers bring more collaboration and interactivity into the classroom. Because SMART products are so easy to use, teachers can quickly incorporate them into their teaching to transform student learning and increase engagement.
Combining the simplicity of a whiteboard with the power of a computer, the SMART Board interactive whiteboard lets you deliver dynamic lessons, write notes in digital ink, and save your work – all with the simple touch of a finger.
The very latest applications offer Multi-touch Technology and Smart have just launched Smart Board 800 Series with four-touch interactivity.
Multi Touch boards enable up to four users ‘freestyle’ interaction and the new board also accepts common multitouch gestures from two users at the same time. Smart are offering free upgrades of the four-touch feature to existing clients with 800 series board and 8070i interactive display from the Q2 2012. The new functionality will increase opportunities for collaboration by giving students more hands-on time at the interactive whiteboard or display.
James Conlon, MD Of NIAVAC says: “With this latest launch of four-touch functionality, more students will able to interact with lesson material on the interactive whiteboard and display, leading to increased student engagement and improved learning outcomes.”
At a glance...
Multitouch – Taking collaboration to new heights
Teachers can increase the opportunities for classroom collaboration, thanks to the multitouch capabilities of the new 800i. Two people can use their fingers or a pen to write, draw and interact with content on the surface of the SMART Board interactive whiteboard. There are no special tools or menus required – students can simply walk up to the SMART Board interactive whiteboard and immediately begin working together.
Freestyle interaction – Expanding the boundaries
of learning
With freestyle interaction, two students can work together anywhere on the surface without being restricted to a defined space or required to use a specific tool. And each student can perform different actions at the same time. For example, one student can move objects around whilst the other writes in digital ink.
Touch gestures – Putting the world at their fingertips
Using touch gestures*, students can interact with lesson content in new and exciting ways, which gives them a deeper, more interactive learning experience. Students can use simple, intuitive gestures, such as toss, rotate and zoom, or use the navigational gestures available with multitouch operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows 7 or Mac Snow Leopard.
